Spades blinks at the sudden outburst, deeply shocked at first before that gives way to... somewhat understanding.
"The veil's thin tonight, Will," she says carefully. "Without being masked in this space among all these... creatures and myself, you're vulnerable to wandering spirits."
"I can provide what explanations you need," she says gently. "Just... ask. I'm here to explain. I don't want to make you feel useless or stupid and I'm sorry I did."
And then Will... blinks out.
He's sitting in a sterile white room. In fact... it's a vet's office. It's quiet in here. He's been in these rooms many times and all the details are there, the benches to sit on. The closed door with the window on it, sticky notes and marker written in writing he only reads bits of. Outside of the window is... the rest of his home-- familiar to him of course. Though... it's completely empty. Outside of all of the windows outlooking the world, the glass door... is just a void. A white void.
He's alone in there. He has time to think at least.
Will, in front of everyone, goes sort of slumped for a second.
And then sits right back up.
When he opens his eyes again, they are pure black and reflect no light-- not even the flickering orange of the fire.
His fur... looks wet. As if he's just climbed up out of a pond. He reeks of such stale water.
This creature moves smoothly to the fire, dripping water, and begins to pace around it in silent circles.
